Teseq EMC Systems software types CIS9942, EPS9980 and CES9985 are designed to use the industry standard IEEE-488 (GPIB) bus. There are many interface cards available in the market place and it is impossible for us to guarantee that all will function correctly in our application environment.
As noted in the product catalogues and individual product manuals, we have standardised on the National Instruments range of IEEE-488 interface cards. National Instruments are well established and the 'de facto' standard manufacturer's of cards of this type and we can guarantee that our software will work with the National Instruments cards shown in the table below.
Cards not manufactured by National Instruments cannot be supported by Teseq EMC Systems Ltd. even though they may claim to be 100% compatible. The use of any other manufacturer's IEEE-488 interface card is, therefore, the responsibility of the user and Teseq EMC Systems Ltd. staff, including Helpdesk staff, are unable to assist with problems encountered when using other manufacturer's cards. |

In all cases the installation of the card must be carried out using the National Instruments procedures in the relevant National Instruments installation manual.
In case of problems with the card, please note the following:-
1) Our software is 16 bit and uses the 16 bit interface software provided by National Instruments. We believe that the direct access test application supplied by National Instruments uses only the 32 bit interface software and may not reveal problems with the remainder of the installation. If you are able to control external equipment using NI software but cannot do so with Teseq EMC Systems Ltd. software then the chances are that something was not carried out correctly during the installation. In this case, uninstall the NI card software and completely remove the installation directory and all the NI driver files in the Windows directories. Follow this with a by-the-book installation of the National Instruments software and hardware and all will be well.
The usual indication of this problem is an error message referring to Error 11 and asking you to consult the National Instruments manual. In all recent cases of this problem, the procedure above has corrected the problem.
2) Teseq EMC Systems Ltd. software requires that there be only one National Instruments card in the PC and that the name of that card is "GPIB0". Use of secondary cards with addresses such as "GPIB1" is not permitted.
3) Our software uses the GPIB.DLL file installed in the .\Windows\System directory by the National Instruments Installation programme. If this file is not present then our software will be unable to communicate with the test equipement.
